It took me a while to come up with a storyline because I couldn't think of a story that would have a good opening sequence. I knew that I wanted to do a horror piece and after a long period of pondering upon potential ideas I came up with the idea that a boy could be having a small gathering. His parents are out and so he and his friends have the house to themselves. But a strange man has been watching the house and knows that it is just the four teenagers in the house and he plans to kill them. I thought this was good because when teenagers are at home, and with their friends they are at their most relaxed so why not throw this safe comfortable environment into a nightmare.
I used my pen tablet to draw my storyboard in Flash.
When I was halfway through editing the raw footage the application (iMovie) quit
and because I hadn't saved I lost all my work. In a way this was a good thing because the second edit was much better. Another setback was that when I put the footage of the boys outside on the computer it looked too dark but by adjusting the brightness and the hue on the outside clips I was able to create a gloomy atmosphere and with the rain, thunder and lightening effects adding to the Mise en Scene the clips brought a new dimension of horror to my film.
I added thunder and lightening using the "flash" visual effect and "thunder" sound effect as well as "rain" effect that comes with the iMovie software.
I used photoshop to add the blood and I think it is quite effective. I added the music that is heard in the opening sequence because it adds to the atmosphere of the movie and builds suspense well. The font I used for the Titles is quite a horrifically graphic font and it adds to the murderous feel of the movie because it looks like blood smears.
I hope you enjoy watching it:
